Securing Norway’s National Highway Tunnels With The JR103-CB-SIP Industrial Waterproof Telephone System
Leave a message

Norway is accelerating the upgrade of its national transportation infrastructure, building an extensive highway tunnel network that stretches across western fjords and northern mountainous regions. These harsh and varied terrains demand highly stable, weatherproof, and maintenance-free communication systems to guarantee tunnel operational safety and efficient emergency response. To meet rigorous national infrastructure standards, more than 2,500 units of the JR103-CB-SIP industrial waterproof telephones have been deployed or are currently under installation nationwide, establishing a new benchmark for reliable tunnel communication and public safety in Norway.
The JR103-CB-SIP is a high-performance industrial SIP telephone specially developed for extreme working conditions. Featuring a heavy-duty die-cast aluminum alloy enclosure and professional waterproof telecommunication technology, the system delivers stable, instant, and clear voice communication. It serves as a core safety device to strengthen emergency response capabilities and protect Norway's critical highway tunnel infrastructure.
Built to Withstand Extreme Nordic Climate Conditions
Adopting premium die-cast aluminum construction and a durable polyurethane outer coating, the JR103-CB-SIP is fully adapted to Norway's complex natural environments. It reliably resists freezing Arctic temperatures, coastal salt fog, high humidity, and continuous temperature fluctuations common in mountain tunnels.
Certified with IP66/IP67 ingress protection, the telephone provides comprehensive defense against dust, water splashes, immersion, and chemical corrosion. It maintains stable operation in temperatures ranging from -40°C to 65°C during operation and -40°C to 75°C for storage, ensuring year-round availability even in severe Nordic winters. With an MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) of over 50,000 hours, the system offers long-term durability and low maintenance for large-scale national infrastructure projects.
Stable SIP Connectivity for Flexible Tunnel Network Deployment
Equipped with standard full-duplex SIP 2.0 (RFC3261) protocol, the JR103-CB-SIP supports seamless compatibility with mainstream IP-PBX systems. It solves the problem of insufficient cellular coverage in deep and remote tunnels, delivering consistent high-definition voice communication throughout the entire highway tunnel network.
Core functional advantages include:
Advanced Noise Reduction Technology: Effectively suppresses tunnel background noise to ensure clear HD voice calls for drivers, tunnel management staff, and emergency rescue teams.
No-Keypad Hotline Auto-Dial: Simplified handset lift-to-call design enables one-touch emergency dialing, greatly improving response speed during accidents and emergencies.
Noise-Cancelling Handset with HAC: Matched with an 80cm armored cord (heavy-duty curly cord optional) and hearing aid compatibility, delivering both durability and user-friendly accessibility.
PoE & DC Dual Power Supply: Supports 802.3af PoE power supply and 12V DC input, simplifying on-site wiring and lowering construction costs for long-distance tunnel projects.
Dual Relay Remote Control: Supports linkage with tunnel ventilation, lighting, and alarm systems to realize intelligent tunnel safety management.
Wide Application for Norwegian Public Safety Infrastructure
The JR103-CB-SIP features strong environmental adaptability and versatile deployment scenarios, widely applicable to multiple high-demand industrial and transportation scenarios:
National highway tunnels and urban underground traffic tunnels
Underground mining and deep underground engineering environments
Offshore wind farms and coastal corrosive infrastructure
Port container cranes, RTG equipment, and quay terminal operations
Power plants, chemical factories, and high-risk industrial zones
Aligned with Norway's national transportation safety strategy focusing on integrated security management and rapid emergency disposal, the JR103-CB-SIP provides 24/7 reliable emergency call points. It significantly shortens emergency response time, improves tunnel operation efficiency, and enhances public travel safety assurance.
Low Power Consumption & Intelligent Remote Operation and Maintenance
The JR103-CB-SIP features ultra-low power consumption, with only 1.8W in standby mode and 2.4W during working status. It perfectly adapts to existing PoE network systems, effectively reducing long-term operational energy consumption. The wide voltage power input of 100–240VAC or 12V DC ensures flexible power adaptation for different engineering sites.
